Harry Reid Attracts Protesters to Donald Norcross Fundraiser

Norcross is running against Garry Cobb in New Jersey First Congressional District election Nov. 5.

A fundraiser for New Jersey First Congressional District Democratic Candidate Donald Norcross provided protesters an opportunity to connect him to controversial U.S. Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, who was in attendance on Monday, the Courier Post reports.

Norcross’s opponent in the Nov. 5 election, Republican Garry Cobb, and Republican U.S. Sen. Candidate Jeff Bell spoke at the protest outside Caffe Aldo Lamberti, according to the report.

Norcross and Cobb are running for the Congressional seat vacated by Rob Andrews, who resigned in February to take a position at Dilworth Paxson.

Bell challenges U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, who won the seat last year in a special election following the death of Frank Lautenberg.

During his speech, Cobb an election of Norcross would only strengthen the power of the Norcross family in New Jersey, according to philly.com. His brother George is an influential political player, chairman of the Board at Cooper University Hospital and part of a group struggling for majority control of the Philadelphia Media Network.

The Norcross campaign pointed out that it has always attracted big names for its previous fundraisers, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, and said Reid spoke at an event for Camden County Democrats about five yeas ago, according to that report.
