Lacrosse Drops Second Straight in Loss to Cinnaminson
With only few games remaining this season, the lacrosse team loses a tough game to Cinnaminson Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon, Collingswood's varsity lacrosse team dropped its second consecutive game. This time, at the hands of Cinnaminson High School's Pirates.
In a back-and-forth first half—during which five lead changes ensued—four different Panthers contributed, with two goals from sophomore Ellie O’Neill.
Entering the second half of their 18th game this season, Panthers were boasting a 7-6 lead.

But the seven total goals Panthers recorded Tuesday weren't enough to overcome the Pirates, and Collingswood was handed its seventh loss, by a score of 14-12.
“I definitely think it’s good for the team when we have so many girls scoring,” said this season's leading scorer and senior captain Jordan Calderone, who recorded one goal Tuesday. “It gives all of the girls confidence that, sometimes, other people can do something with the ball.”

In spite of Panthers’ explosive and diverse offensive performance Tuesday, struggles were evident in other areas of the game. Panthers defense had several holes, and players had trouble passing and receiving throughout the game.
“I think we still need to work on the fundamentals,” said Calderone. “Things like not being able to catch and throw, and get groundballs, really hurt our chances in the end.”
But Collingswood's lacrosse team doesn't have much time to improve, with only two regular season games remaining.
As Calderone pointed out, though, the team's goals for the remainder of the season are the same ones with which they entered.
“I think our goals for the rest of the season are just to really work hard,” Calderone said. “We want to try and turn the last games this team has together into wins.”
