Local Artists' Work Featured at Crestmont Gallery During Second Saturday

This Saturday, Feb. 12, Crestmont Gallery highlighted the borough's Second Saturday event with a photography exhibit.

Every month, the borough's Second Saturday event features the works of various artists and crafters.

But during this past Second Saturday—on Saturday, Feb. 12—Crestmont Gallery stole the show by displaying photography from different area artists and shutterbugs.

A wine and cheese reception was held at Crestmont Gallery—located at 495 Haddon Ave.—on Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The photography exhibit was held to display the works of at least seven artists.

While the event was dubbed Crestmont Gallery Photography Exhibit, not all featured artists limited their craft to photography alone.

In addition to photographic works, Saturday's artists also featured their original paintings, jewelry, fine art and ceramics.

The event showcased artists like Valerie Bruder, Dave Lunt, Jeanette Daroszewski, Pamela Martin, Brett Scot Wallerstein, Stacy Campbell and Tracie A. Godri.

Highlighted artist Valerie Bruder—whose professional website says she shut her camera away years ago after getting frustrated with the art—is back in action today, after two areas of photography reignited her passion.

Once Bruder discovered the digital photography medium, she rediscovered her talent. And once back in the game, all it took was a love for shooting landscapes to keep her there.

"The more I photograph, the more I want to photograph," said Bruder on her website. "Every time I shoot, I learn something new. The only limit to the possibilities is the lack of time."

Bruder says all her finished works are created by using programs like Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Photomatix—a post-processing element—to highlight the photographs.

Valerie's work will be on display at Crestmont Gallery until March 5.
