New Drama Production Class at Perkins Center

Perkins Center for the Arts Collingswood Drama Program presents its inaugural youth theatrical production class, Live Theatre for Children, by Children (Ages 9-14)

Young actors, singers, dancers and technicians will be guided by three theatre professionals, a director, a choreographer and a vocalist to create a production of  the original musical, We Are Monsters,  which will then be professionally presented at Perkins Center for the Arts, Collingswood Theatre. This new experience will provide an opportunity for children to be involved in all aspects of live theater while stimulating the imagination and providing a creative outlet for student performers between the ages of nine and fourteen. Students will produce a well-rounded show excelling in all aspects; script choice, direction, technical design and execution, costuming, make-up, and the use of music. Cast and crew positions will be determined by the director. Auditions for the production will be Saturday, January 18th starting at 11:00am and concluding at 4:30pm.  All students will be cast in the production.

We Are Monsters is an original musical that follows human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster characters. The adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n’ roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters than meets the eye! Most importantly these monsters and kids discover the importance of friendship and celebrating in the attributes that make each of us different and unique.

Dates: January 7- March 27 (12 weeks)

Days & Times: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 4:00-6:00pm

(Additional Saturday classes: March 15th, 9am- 12pm & March 22nd, 9am-3pm)

Performances: Friday, March 28th, 4:30pm & 7:00pm

                        Saturday, March 29th, 11:30am & 3:00pm
