New Survey Focuses On Communication In Collingswood Schools

The survey can be filled out online anytime through Dec. 7.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A new survey from the Collingswood Public School District is designed to help the district ensure that it communicates effectively with staff, parents and community members.

The school district announced that it is partnering with SCoPE School Surveys, a nationally recognized school survey provider, to gain input on district communications.

The reliability of the results depends on the number of people who fill out the survey, so the school district is encouraging as many people to take it as possible.

The survey takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, and can be filled out anytime between now and Dec. 7 at http://bit.ly/CollsSurvey. It can be accessed via desktop and laptop computers, as well as most tablets and smartphones. The surveys are available in both English and Spanish and participation is completely anonymous.

“SCoPE School Surveys will help us to take the guesswork out of our communications,” Collingswood Superintendent of Schools Dr. Scott A. Oswald said. “Through the survey process, we will learn more about how stakeholders prefer to receive information from the district as well as how we’re providing information about key topics and issues.”

The questions focus on the district’s communication mechanisms, the effectiveness of communications in key areas for each audience and whether communications are considered accurate, timely and trustworthy.

Once completed, SCoPE School Surveys provides reports of the results and an individualized review pointing to school communication program standards based on Collingswood’s highest and lowest performing areas. This review helps the district identify opportunities to improve communications and prioritize its next steps.

“It’s really important that we hear from our community,” Collingswood Board of Education President Fiona Henry said. “We strongly encourage everyone to complete the survey so that we can take a more informed approach with our communication practices.”
