Republican Freeholder Candidates at Odds With Gov. Christie Over County Police
Four Republican candidates have vowed to disband the force if elected in November.

As Gov. Chris Christie praises the work the Camden County Police Force has done since its inception during his presidential campaign, four Republicans are vowing to disband that same police force.
The Republican candidates for Camden County freeholder are vowing to replace the Camden County Police Force with a city-run police department, the Courier Post reports.
Candidate Teddy Liddell said the freeholder board’s promise to replace the city-run police department with a county force that would make Camden better has failed, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Christie said the murder rate in Camden is down 61 percent over the last three years on “Meet the Press” over the weekend, and has touted the creation of the county force as an example of how he can work with Democrats. Camden Mayor Dana Redd is a Democrat.
Liddell, Winston Extavour, Ian Gill and Rob Stone are running against Democrats Susan Shin-Angulo, Jeffrey Nash, William Moen and Jonathan Young in the Nov. 3 elections.

The Republicans’ campaign manager, Steve Kush, said their campaign has nothing to do with Christie, who is running for president.
