We see streams and lakes around us, and might wonder where the water comes from or goes. We see might see thick green algae in the water and be curious what is causing it. We hear about dredging. We might wonder if our waterways are getting cleaner or dirtier, and why. We hear about invasive species. We might wonder how we can help.
Guides from the Delaware Riverkeeper Network will dig into these issues while leading eco-tours to interesting stops in the Newton Creek Watershed and Cooper River Watershed, looking at the headwaters, narrow creeks, dammed lakes, tidal portions waterways, rain gardens, eroded areas, and areas that add pollution and sediment to the waterways; we’ll also dip our feet in the water to demonstrate mussel surveying and/or macro-invertebrate surveying (you can be a helper if you bring your hip waders!).
