Welcome to our 1st snow storm

Well we finally got some snow this past week. Depending on where you live it may have been anywhere from 2 to 8 inches.

I would like to mention that when inclement weather strikes that you slow down when driving and double your braking distances. Also if you do not have to go out, stay off the roads.

As a parttime employee with the NJ DOT we are the guys that "back up" the DOT as snow plow drivers during these times. My particular "yard" in W. Deptford covers highways like I-295 from the 18 mm to 29 mm. I-76 and its approaches to the W.W. and Ben Franklin Bridges. Also we hit Rt 47 and 45 as well as Rt 44.

Sometimes we are out there 12 hours running (day or night). I am a retired tractor trailer driver so I am familar how "bad" some people can be in bad weather.

What I ask is that if you see us coming; know we probaly have our salt spreader going or plow dow, in real bad weather both at the same time. Give us a break and give us some room please. It's a tough job so that you may drive safer.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
