Shoplifting, DWI Arrests, Drug Charges Reported in Cranford

Cranford police reported multiple arrests in April involving shoplifting, DWI, and drug possession.

CRANFORD, NJ — A series of shoplifting investigations, driving while intoxicated arrests, and drug possession cases kept Cranford police active throughout April, according to police records.

Among the incidents were two separate shoplifting-related charges tied to investigations at a North Avenue business, along with multiple DWI arrests and several drug possession arrests across town.

In one of the shoplifting cases, police said a 31-year-old South Amboy woman was charged following a follow-up investigation into an April 17 incident at a North Avenue business. In a separate case, a 26-year-old Elizabeth man was also charged with shoplifting after an incident at a South Avenue business on April 13.

Driving while intoxicated arrests were reported on multiple dates during the month. On April 8, police said a 48-year-old Clark man was arrested following a crash investigation on Springfield Avenue. He was charged with DWI and issued motor vehicle summonses.

On April 12, a 33-year-old East Orange woman was arrested during a traffic stop on South Avenue and charged with DWI, according to police. Earlier in the month, on April 3, a 51-year-old Fanwood woman was also arrested on Springfield Avenue and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance following a traffic stop.

Drug possession arrests continued throughout the month as well. Police said a 42-year-old Newark man was arrested on Myrtle Street on April 11 and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Later that same night, a 32-year-old Jersey City man was arrested on North Avenue and charged with the same offense following a separate traffic stop.

On April 27, a 42-year-old Perth Amboy woman was arrested on North Avenue and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance following a motor vehicle stop, according to police.

Other incidents included a disorderly conduct arrest on April 2, when police responded to a suspicious person report on North Lehigh Avenue and charged a 34-year-old Cranford man.

On April 15, an 18-year-old Pine Brook man was charged with eluding following a follow-up investigation into a March 21 incident on Raritan Road.

A disorderly conduct arrest was also made on April 19 during an investigation on Raritan Road involving a 26-year-old Hightstown woman.
