CRANFORD, NJ — Even though Cranford’s Memorial Day parade was canceled because of the weather, members of the Cranford Police Department still gathered Monday to honor a fallen officer during a memorial service outside police headquarters.
The ceremony recognized Officer Robert F. Hand, who died in the line of duty on Feb. 11, 1975.
Chief Matthew Nazzaro led the service alongside PBA President Matthew Siessel, Police Department Chaplain Pastor Tom Rice, Deputy Mayor and Public Safety Commissioner Paul Gallo, and Mayor Kathleen Miller-Prunty.
The Township's Memorial Day ceremony was held at Cranford High School due to the weather.
