Weather forecast:
1. Popular Cranford Restaurant Expands With Family-Friendly Pizza Space (patch.com) — Cranford residents can look forward to a new family-friendly pizza space inside a well-known South Avenue East restaurant, now approved by the township Planning Board. The project will add a mezzanine-level pizzeria-style area with TVs and possible takeout, while keeping the main dining room unchanged. Board members say the expansion responds to family requests and supports the vitality of downtown Cranford.
2. Late-Night DWI Arrests Reported On Cranford Roads (patch.com) — Seven drivers were recently charged with DWI on Cranford roads in May, following late-night stops and crash investigations on North, South, and Walnut Avenues. Most were released pending court, but one South Avenue stop on May 18 led to additional disorderly conduct and firearm charges and a trip to Union County Jail.
3. McIver Wins NJ-10 Primary Election, Captures Democrat Nomination: AP (patch.com) — Voters in New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, which includes Cranford, have given Rep. LaMonica McIver a decisive Democratic primary win over challenger Lawrence Poster, according to the AP. She’ll face Republican Carmen Bucco and any independents in November, with both campaigns emphasizing issues like affordability, economic growth, and public safety that will matter to Cranford residents.
4. State's No. 16 team tested early by young challenger, but passes in style in G2 semis (nj.com subscription) — Cranford’s boys lacrosse team pushed top-seeded West Morris in the North, Group 2 semifinals, briefly cutting the deficit to one before ultimately falling 16-9 in Chester.
