CRANFORD, NJ — A power outage affecting parts of northwest Cranford has caused road closures, downed wires and traffic signal issues, officials said Wednesday afternoon.
The outage is impacting areas including West Holly Street, Orchard Street, Brookside Place and Gallows Hill Road.
West Holly Street is closed between Orchard Street and the Garwood border due to downed wires and fire department activity.
Several traffic signals along North Avenue and Springfield Avenue are either without power or operating on emergency backup power. Drivers are advised to use caution and treat intersections without working traffic signals as four-way stops.
The Cranford Community Center, located at 220 Walnut Avenue, is open as a cooling and phone charging center and will remain available until 10 p.m.
Residents seeking outage updates and restoration information can contact PSE&G through its outage center or by calling 1-800-436-PSEG.
Officials asked residents not to call the Cranford Police Department for outage updates or restoration information and to reserve 9-1-1 for emergencies.
