Bento Express Opens in Downtown Cranford

Bento Express, a restaurant specializing in Hibachi, sushi, and stir-fried noodles recently opened its doors in Downtown Cranford and had a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 21. The following day the restaurant had a grand opening celebration where it served samples of sushi rolls, Pad Thai, Malaysian Style Fried Rice, Tofu Curry, and Singapore Style Fried Wings.

Owner Richard Lo has years of experience in the food industry, as well as in the Cranford area. Richard’s goal with Bento Express is to serve up healthier Asian fare. The food at Bento Express doesn’t use as much oil as more traditional Chinese food, and many of the dishes are prepared on the hibachi grill. The majority of the restaurant’s business is through takeout, and it already has numerous regular customers in the short time it’s been open.

“We are so excited to welcome Bento Express to downtown Cranford,” said Kathleen Miller-Prunty, director of the Office of Downtown Business and Economic Development. “They’re a welcome addition to an already thriving restaurant scene.”
