First Presbyterian Church of Cranford & YWCA of Union County Host Conversation on Domestic Violence

First Presbyterian Church of Cranford and YWCA Union County to Host Community Conversation on Domestic Violence and Teen Dating Violence

First Presbyterian Church of Cranford and YWCA Union County will host a free community education event on September 26, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Thomson Youth Center, located on the lower level of the church’s Memorial Hall.

Open to the public, the program will cover the dynamics and warning signs of domestic violence, offer guidance for parents and caregivers on talking with teenagers about healthy relationships and dating violence, and provide an overview of services available through YWCA Union County. Attendees will also learn about volunteer opportunities and ways to support survivors.

The program will include a screening of “A Day of Hope,” a film highlighting the impact of coordinated community support for survivors and the importance of accessible services and advocacy.

“Education and awareness are critical tools in preventing relationship violence and supporting those affected by abuse,” said Lisa Poris, Director of Union County Family Justice Center. “This event is an opportunity for community members to learn, ask questions, and become part of the effort to create safer, healthier relationships for everyone.”

The event reflects First Presbyterian Church of Cranford’s longstanding commitment to serving the wider community by raising awareness, connecting people with trusted resources, and encouraging meaningful volunteer involvement.
