Caring For A Loved One? Union County Offering Free Help

Upcoming events will connect seniors and caregivers with services ranging from meal delivery to in-home support.

UNION COUNTY, NJ —For many Union County families, finding help for an aging parent or loved one can be overwhelming.

This month, seniors and caregivers will have two opportunities to meet one-on-one with specialists from Union County's Division on Aging and learn about services that may help older adults remain independent.

The county's Aging Services Kiosk (ASK) program will host free events in Rahway and Cranford where residents can get information about home-delivered meals, home care, adult day care, respite care and caregiver support programs. Staff will also be available to help complete forms and answer questions.

"Our county believes in empowering seniors to live independent and dignified lives, which is why this initiative has been so popular for the past decade," Union County Commissioner Chairman Joseph C. Bodek said in a statement.

County officials said any Union County resident age 60 or older, along with caregivers, may attend either event regardless of where they live. No appointment or registration is required, and bilingual staff will be available to assist Spanish-speaking residents.
