CHS Hall of Fame Induction Set for October 22

2000 women's varsity soccer team among 13 inductees to be enshrined.

Cranford High School is not only one of the top-rated academic schools in New Jersey year after year, but their sports programs are well-respected throughout the state as well.

Great teams and outstanding individual athletes have proudly worn the blue-and-gold, and on Oct. 22, there will be 13 new members inducted into the Cranford High School Hall of Fame. 

The Cranford Sports Hall of Fame Committee have announced 13 new inductees who will be enshrined during its Sixth Induction Ceremony and Banquet to be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gran Centurions in Clark.

Among those being honored are the state champion 2000 women's varsity soccer team, who finished as the top-ranked team in the state; the 1956 men's varsity basketball team and the 1973-74 women's basketball team, who ended with a mark of 19-1 under head coach Sally Morel in their first year of varsity competition.

Individuals being enshrined include former field hockey and softball star Lauren Porter, a 1997 graduate who was a three-year letter-winner in both sports -- and Patrick Slocum. who made his mark on the CHS ice hockey team --scoring 190 goals in 92 career games for the Cougars -- and remains the 3rd all-time leading scorer in state history.

Spending three years anchoring first singles on the CHS tennis team -- 1968 graduate Ed Faukner also joins this year's class -- honored for posting an impressive 51-3 career mark.

13.  2000 Women's Varsity Soccer Team

The Hall of Fame was established in 1996, and last inducted a group of student-athletes in 2005.
