Cranford 5K Race To Raise Money For Suicide Prevention, Awareness

High Focus Centers is hosting a Race For Wellness at Nomehegan Park to raise money for suicide prevention and awareness on June 2.

CRANFORD, NJ — High Focus Center, with a location in Cranford, is hosting a Race For Wellness at Nomehegan Park to raise money for suicide prevention and awareness on June 2.

“We provide treatment for people suffering from mental illness and substance abuse disorders,” said Jane DeFabio, director of marketing for High Focus Centers. “We wanted to do something to give back to the community and raise awareness and reduce the stigma around these issues.”

High Focus has locations in New Jersey and provides structured outpatient behavioral health and addiction treatment programs for adults and adolescents who are struggling with emotional or substance abuse issues.

The first ever race will be held in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the New Jersey Prevention Network. Additionally High Focus will be donating 100 percent of proceeds collected from runner registration to AFSP and NJPN.

In addition to a 5K race and 1-mile family fun run/walk, Race for Wellness will feature food trucks, exhibitors, kids’ activities, and music.

The fun run will take place 30 minutes prior to the 5K race, so individuals are welcomed to participate in both events if they choose.

Children under 12 are free to register, and the course/event is USA Track & Field sanctioned. Registration for the 5K race is $35 and $25 for the 1-mile fun run/walk or $35 for both the 5K race and 1 mile fun run. To register for the event click here.

Each individual who registers online receives a free t-shirt along with their registration.
