Cranford 8th Grade PAL Football Team One Win From Perfect Regular Season

Behind a strong defensive effort, the Cranford 8th Grade PAL football team cruised to their seventh win of the season.

The Cranford PAL 8th Grade football team won its 7th straight NJSYFL game without a loss on Sunday with a 36-0 victory against archrival New Providence.

With the win Cranford clinched a playoff berth and first place in their conference. The Cougars continued its season long defensive dominance which has held opponents to seven points or less in six of their seven victories.

According to defensive coordinator Chris Szekeres, it all starts and ends with the interior line play of eight players dubbed "The Crawlers." The unsung heroes set the tone for the physical play of this Cranford team throughout the first seven contests.

The offensive effort against New Providence was led by fullback Tom Lies, whose first touchdown of the year to put the game away for Cranford. The undefeated squad looks to conclude a perfect 8-0 regular season on Saturday, October 29, 7:30pm at Smith Field in Parsippany.
