Cranford Gets More Airtime: Allstate Commercial Filmed Downtown

What's with producers and Cranford? One of every stripe seems to have set foot here.

A few Cranford served as prime setting for 908 Media independent film "Return to Start." And lest we not forget, Cranford was the site of the third season of Nickeoleodeon classic television show "Pete and Pete" back in the 1990s.

Now it may appear in a commercial for Allstate Insurance. Cameras shot footage Thursday, filming company spokesperson Dennis Haysbert in the intersection of Alden and North Union Street. 

Although commercial producer Veronica Puc declined to explain the content of the commercial, she did say that the Cranford footage is meant to symbolize everyday, average people and their lifestyles.

Around 50 crew members started arriving around 6 a.m. and police closed Alden Street to traffic, filled as it was with camera equipment and crewmembers with microphones. The day before, the camera crew also shot scenes in a residential neighborhood in Cranford that Puc declined to name. 

Wonder where Cranford will end up next on the television screen.
