Cranford High Athlete of the Week: Kristen VanBenschoten
Her performance at the Track & Field County Championships helped propel Cranford to the title.

Kristen VanBenschoten joined the Cranford High School Track & Field team just last year but her inexperience didn't stop her from being a large contributor to the Cougars' championship win.
Her throw of 34' 1" in the shot put gave her a fourth place finish and her discus toss of 104' 1" gave her the Union County Championship. Her 14 points were crucial in helping the Cranford girls win the county.
"My friend Becca, who is now my partner, talked me into joining the team," Kristen said. "My mom felt I could be good at so she encouraged me to join." "I am thrilled to be able to help the team win counties, she added.
