Cranford Locals Arrested for DWI, Drugs: Blotter

Two Cranford locals were arrested last week for driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana in two separate incidents

CRANFORD, NJ — Two Cranford locals were arrested last week for driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana in two separate incidents, according to the blotter.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On Oct. 11 at 2:27 p.m.: A 2001 Toyota was stopped for an inspection sticker violation at the intersection of Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue. As Ptl. Robert Jordan was approaching the vehicle, an occupant threw an item out the window. An on-scene investigation by Ptl. Jordan, determined that the item thrown was a pipe containing suspected cocaine. The driver, Daniel Ruddy, 38, Metuchen was arrested for Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court appearance in Elizabeth. Ruddy was also issued motor vehicle summonses for having an expired inspection sticker, throwing debris from a motor vehicle, and failing to provide a valid registration.

On Oct. 11 at 8:13 p.m.: A 2016 Toyota was stopped for multiple equipment violations at the intersection of E. South Avenue and E. Lincoln Avenue. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Timothy Handy located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, William Enloe Jr., 25, Newark was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(Under 50grams) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Enloe Jr. was issued motor vehicle summonses for unclear plates, tinted windows, having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and failure to possess a valid insurance card.

On Oct. 12 at 2:37 a.m.: A 2004 Toyota was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Walnut Avenue. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Lynne Galvez located marijuana inside the vehicle and in possession of a passenger. The driver, Nicholas Luciano, 21, Cranford and a passenger, Jacob Bell, 21, Westfield were arrested for Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Luciano was issued motor vehicle summonses for having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and a having a view obstruction. Jacob was issued a motor vehicle summons for failing to wear a seat belt.

On Oct. 12 at 7:10 p.m.: A 2005 Dodge was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and GSP SB 137 Entrance for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Det. Spencer Durkin located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Tyrone Hester, 25, Beachwood was arrested for Possession of Marijuana (under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Hester was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failing to wear his seatbelt.

On Oct. 13 at 7:59 p.m.: While on routine patrol, Ptl. Jason D’Agostino encountered a 2015 Honda at an E. North Avenue establishment. The occupant was acting in a suspicious manner, which initiated an investigation. Following this investigation, Ptl. D’Agostino arrested the driver, Barbara Cleary, 62, Fords for being in possession of prescription narcotics. Cleary was arrested, processed, and given a Superior Court appearance in Elizabeth.

On Oct. 14 at 1:55 a.m.: A 2002 Honda was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue for a window tint violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Jason D’Agostino determined that the driver, Steve Sarabando, 27, Newark was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Sarabando was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Refusal to Submit to Chemical Testing, processed, and released to a family member pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Sarabando was issued motor vehicle summonses for window tint, driving while intoxicated, and refusal to submit to chemical testing.

On Oct. 14 at 10:56 p.m.: A 2002 Honda was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Coleman Avenue for having a cracked windshield. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Gregory Federici located heroin inside the vehicle. The driver, Quan Williams, 31, Edison was arrested for Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance(Heroin) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court appearance. Williams was also issued motor vehicle summonses for cracked windshield, driving while suspended, and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Oct. 15 at 3:06 a.m.: A 2006 Toyota was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road at Moen Avenue for a red light violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Brian Trotter determined that the driver, Edward Hernandez, 30, Newark was driving while intoxicated. Hernandez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a family member pending a Municipal Court appearance. Hernandez was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and failure to observe traffic signal.

On Oct. 15 at 7:07 p.m.: Patrol Units responded to the area of Linden Place and Orange Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Nadia Jones determined that the driver of a 2014 Acura, William Ronnow, 62, Cranford was driving while intoxicated. Ronnow was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Ronnow was released to the custody of a friend.

On Oct. 16 at 10:23 a.m.: A 2005 Ford was stopped at the intersection of Jackson Drive and GSP 136 NB ramp for a malfunctioning brake light. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Michael Dubitsky located prescription pills in possession of the driver, Michelle Falco, 36, Bloomfield. Falco was arrested for Possession of Prescription Narcotics and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. Falco was also issued summonses for malfunctioning brake light and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
