Cranford Man Among 11 Arrested on Drug Charges

Cranford Police arrested 11 people including a Cranford resident on drug charges.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police arrested 11 people including a Cranford resident on drug charges.

Cranford Police blotter:

On Oct. 18 at 3:48 a.m.: A 2006 Nissan was stopped for a malfunctioning brake light at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and the GSP 136 NB Ramp. Ptl. Michael O’Neil began an on-scene investigation, during which time the driver, Michael Adams, 23, of Newark refused to provide his required motor vehicle credentials. Michael Adams eventually exited the vehicle, and was arrested for Obstruction. As the investigation continued, Ptl. O’Neil located marijuana inside the vehicle. A passenger, Joseph Adams, 26, of Newark was also arrested for hindering his apprehension, when he provided a false name to officers’ on-scene. It was determined that Joseph Adams had an active criminal warrant out of Garwood. Michael Adams and Joseph Adams were processed for Possession of Marijuana (Under 50g), Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Forged Government Document, Obstruction and Hindering; Contempt of Court, and both subsequently released pending a Superior Court Appearance in Elizabeth. Michael Adams was also issued motor vehicle summonses for having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, failure to maintain lamps, and failure to exhibit documents.

On Oct. 18 at 11:11 p.m.: A 2004 Toyota was stopped for multiple equipment violations at the intersection of McClellan Street and Centennial Avenue. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Daniel Donnerstag located marijuana inside the vehicle, and on the driver, Ellis Charles, 21, of Maplewood. A passenger, Fournier Calixte, 20, of Maplewood was also found to be in possession of marijuana. Charles and Calixte were, arrested for Possession with intent to Distribute(Marijuana), Possession of Marijuana(Under 50grams), Possession of Paraphernalia and Contempt of Court, processed, and given Superior Court Appearances in Elizabeth. Charles was also issued motor vehicle summonses for having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended, failure to wear a seatbelt, and failing to maintain lamps. Charles was turned over to Union PD on an active warrant.

On Oct. 18 at 3:21 p.m.: A 2001 Hyundai was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and GSP 137 SB Ramp for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Det. Spencer Durkin located marijuana on a passenger, Jeffry Urena, 28, of Toms River. Urena was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Urena was issued a motor vehicle summons for failing to wear a seatbelt.

On Oct. 19 at 4:29 p.m.: A 2011 Toyota was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and Carpenter Place for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Michael Dubitsky located a pipe containing cocaine residue on the driver, Kelly Hawkes, 33, of Lincoln Park. Hawkes was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. Hawkes was also issued a motor vehicle summons for failing to wear a seatbelt, driving while suspended, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Oct. 20 at 7:11 p.m.: A 2000 Jeep was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Coleman Avenue for careless driving. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Jason D’Agostino located crystal methamphetamine inside the vehicle. A passenger, Adam Mulchy, 36, of Vernon was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Methamphetamine) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving and delaying traffic.

On Oct. 20 at 8:15 p.m.: A 2015 Ford was stopped at the intersection of North Avenue and Carpenter Place for unclear plates. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Ryan Gerrity located marijuana on the driver, Tyreek Byard, 31, of Yonkers. Byard was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Byard was issued motor vehicle summonses for having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and unclear plates.

On Oct. 21 at 7:02 p.m.: A 2008 Subaru was stopped at the intersection of Jackson Drive and Centennial Avenue for failing to maintain lane. While conducting an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Gregory Federici observed the driver, Matthew DiMarco, 29, of Cranford attempting to discard a pipe containing suspected cocaine. DiMarco was arrested for Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court appearance. DiMarco was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Oct. 21 at 8:35 p.m.: A 2003 Honda was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and GSP 137 SB Ramp for having an obstructed view. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Ryan Gerrity located marijuana on a passenger, Thomas Hunter, 36, of Westfield. Hunter was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for obstructed view and driving while suspended.

On Oct. 23 at 1:52 a.m.: A 2004 Acura was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Coleman Avenue for a red light violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Jason D’Agostino located marijuana on the driver, Okeave Fairman, 21, of Keasbey. Fairman was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Fairman was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to observe a traffic signal and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
