Cranford Man Arrested For Hindering Arrest: Blotter

The Cranford man gave fake information to police after being stopped on Rt. 22 in Green Brook: blotter

CRANFORD, NJ — Anthony P. Ciuba, 52, of Cranford was arrested for hindering apprehension, according to the Green Brook Police blotter.

On July 14 at approximately 6:01 p.m.: Officers received a call from Somerset County Dispatch in regards to a reckless driver swerving in and out of traffic. The caller stated it was a White Ford pickup truck bearing New Jersey registration X1924M with the name,"Santos Landscaping" on the side, traveling East on Route 22 and WarrenvilleRoad.

Officers pulled to the shoulder of Route 22 East by Capitol Lighting to observe traffic.

After observing traffic for a brief period, officers observed the aforementioned vehicle. Officers subsequently conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Route 22 East and Washington.

Upon speaking with the driver officers observed a open bottle of vodka on the floor board. Officers then requested the individual to step out of the vehicle and conducted HGN and walk and turn on the individual who agreed on performing them. The results of the two test yielded negative results of impairment.

Officers then requested the individual's drivers license, registration and insurance. The individual stated he left his drivers license in another work truck. When asked for his name and date of birth, the defendant gave a false name and date of birth. The subject’s age and date of birth did not match and through continued questioning, officers learned the subject was lying about his identity.

Ciuba was arrested for hindering apprehension.
