Cranford Man Drives Off, Resists Arrest After Traffic Stop In Union County

Authorities say the driver left a traffic stop in Kenilworth before being taken into custody nearby.

CRANFORD, NJ — A Cranford man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he drove away from a traffic stop in Kenilworth and was later taken into custody.

According to the Kenilworth Police Department, the incident happened May 26 after a Toyota Camry was stopped near Boulevard and North 12th Street.

Authorities said the driver, identified as Deandre G. Fordjour-Fieldhouse of Cranford, refused to cooperate during the stop, got back into the vehicle and drove away.

The vehicle later stopped near Boulevard and North 21st Street. Authorities said Fordjour-Fieldhouse continued to refuse instructions before he was taken into custody.

Fordjour-Fieldhouse was charged with two counts of disarming a law enforcement officer. He was also charged with eluding law enforcement and resisting arrest.
