Dear Parents, Staff, and Members of the HAS Family,
After 20 wonderful years of being a part of Hillside Avenue School, it is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. I have made the decision to retire effective September 9, 2019. This decision is bittersweet. I am sad to be leaving, but it is time to refocus my efforts toward the future and my family.

Serving as Principal of Hillside Avenue School has been a great honor and a defining part of my life. When I was appointed Principal in 1999, I had so many ideas and dreams for our students and school. I am very happy and proud that many of them have come true.
It has been a pleasure partnering with you and all the past parents, teachers, and students that have made my tenure at HAS so wonderful. I truly believe that we have gathered a group of talented and passionate teachers and staff that together make up this great school. I will cherish the many laughs shared and memories made with all of you over the years. In my heart, I will always feel a part of the HAS family.
Finally, I would like to thank Dr. Rubin, Superintendent of Schools, the Cranford Board of Education and, most of all, the HAS families, for the opportunity to work toward the success of each and every child at our school. Please know that Dr. Rubin and the Cranford Board of Education are committed to finding an exceptional leader to become the next Principal.
As always, I thank you for your support of Hillside Avenue School and our mission.
Sincerely,
Curt M. Fogas Ed.D.
Principal
"We wish Dr. Fogas a retirement filled with much joy and happiness with friends and family," Rubin said.
