Cranford Schools Hire New Supervisor For Special Needs
JoAnn Sei came to Cranford in 2020 and had started her education career as a third grade teacher in Elizabeth.
CRANFORD, NJ — The Cranford Board of Education announced Tuesday that they had promoted a teacher/consultant to a supervisory role, working with special education teachers throughout the district.
They said that after an extensive search, JoAnn Sei has been promoted to the role of part-time Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant/part-time Supervisor of Special Education.
"JoAnn Sei looks forward to collaborating with Cranford’s dedicated special education teachers and related services providers across the district," said the board, "as they continue to work to promote learner success and inclusion through high quality instruction and support services."

Sei began her career as a third grade teacher in Elizabeth Public schools, followed by working as a special education teacher in Somerset Hills School District, and later working as an LDTC in Alexandria Township Schools. In 2020, she came to Cranford to fill a similar role.
"In these roles," the school board said, "she has become an accomplished educator in addressing academic and social issues for student success, while being an assertive advocate for students. She is extremely knowledgeable about special education law and best practices and has proven the ability to hold and convey a vision for special education services and multi-tiered response to intervention, while educating and enlisting the support of colleagues and the community."

They said Sei has served as a representative on the Collaborative Problem Solving Team, New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education Committee, and Accommodations and Modifications Committee.
Sei holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education, Master of Arts in Special Education, Learning Consultant Certification, and Supervisor Certification, all from Kean University.
