Cranford Sweet N' Fancy Emporium To Offer Valentine's Baked Goods
Sweet N' Fancy has a new owner and an entire menu dedicated to Valentine's Day treats — selling anything from cakes to chocolate lollipops.
CRANFORD, NJ — Valentine's Day is coming soon and the new owner of Sweet N' Fancy Emporium/The Sprinkle Experiment in Cranford is ready to spread the love with her tasty baked goods.
Amanda Girardi, the new owner and manager of the popular bakery as of September, has created an entire Valentine's Day menu for her customers. The menu includes anything from a chocolate smash heart and chocolate lollipops to heart-shaped cakes and more.

Girardi said she became the owner of Sweet N' Fancy completely by chance.
"None of this was planned," Girardi said. "I came in [the store] in April or May to get some supplies and the owner just literally asked if I wanted to buy the store. And I kind of looked at her like she was nuts."

Before entering the baking business, Girardi was an executive at a credit union for 20 years.
But because of Girardi's love of retail and also baking, she decided to take on Sweet N' Fancy Emporium, which has been in existence since 1989.
She said her father is a retired chef, and she was raised on homemade food and making everything from scratch. Gifting friends and family with baked goods eventually became her love language.
"Over time, whether it be for gifts or for holidays, I always would gift some kind of food or baked item," Girardi said. "But especially at work for people's birthdays and celebrations and such they always asked me to make things and I never really sold them."
"It's hard to put a price on your work, especially when you were doing it just because you wanted to do it. And then it started to get a lot [of attention]. So that's really how it started."
Girardi said the Cranford community has really supported the small business, and she said she appreciates all the support she has received.
"The town of Cranford ... I've never seen such a powerful community and I've worked in multiple states and I've had people in all different demographics and I've just never seen so much support in one really concentrated area like it is here," Girardi said.
Sweet N' Fancy has been operating while under renovation for the past few months, but Girardi said the remodel should be done by early March. She also said as soon as the renovation is complete, she will release a curriculum with baking classes and start allowing people to have parties in the store.
The bakery is also currently partnering with Track 5 Coffee in Cranford. Girardi said Track 5 is selling the bakery's famous crumb cake and they are "selling like wildfire." Track 5 will start selling more of the bakery's items, like cookies and muffins, very soon — according to Girardi.
