Cranford Under Flood Watch As Heavy Rain, Storms Expected Tuesday

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford is under a Flood Watch as multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the area Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said the Flood Watch will remain in effect from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night as parts of northeast New Jersey could see heavy rainfall.

Rainfall totals are expected to generally range from 1 to 2 inches, with isolated areas potentially receiving 3 to 4 inches. The strongest storms could produce rainfall rates of up to 2.5 inches per hour.

Forecasters said excessive runoff could lead to flooding in rivers, streams, low-lying areas and locations with poor drainage.

The Flood Watch includes parts of Union County, including Western Union and Eastern Union, along with other areas across northeast New Jersey and New York City.

Residents in flood-prone areas are encouraged to monitor weather updates and be prepared to take action if flooding develops.
