Edible Drug-Laced Gummies, Marijuana, Heroin Found In Cranford: Blotter

CRANFORD, NJ — During multiple arrests in Cranford last week, police recovered a variety of drugs including heroin, marijuana and edible HTC-laced gummies, police reported.
Cranford Police Blotter:
On Jan. 3 at 7:50 p.m.: A 2005 Ford was stopped at the intersection of E. North Avenue and Carpenter Place for an inspection sticker violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Ryan Gerrity located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Khayree Wiggins, 24, of Hillside was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Wiggins was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to inspect a motor vehicle, failure to maintain lamps, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Jan. 4 at 11: 54 p.m.: A 2016 Audi was stopped at the intersection of W. South Avenue and Washington Place for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Timothy Handy located multiple edible gummies inside the vehicle. These edibles are suspected to contain THC. The driver, Jonathan Franco, 19, of South River was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(Under 50g); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Franco was also issued motor vehicle summonses for improper display of a license plate and possessing a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle.
On Jan. 5 at 11:22 a.m.: Patrol Units were detailed to a local Financial Institution, when staff reported that an individual was attempting to access an account with fraudulent identification. Ptl. Christian Pasternak conducted an investigation at the scene, and subsequently arrested, Taiyzsha Spriggs, 20, of East Orange after she provided a false name and fraudulent Pennsylvania driver’s license. Spriggs was processed for Possession of False Government Documents; and Hindering Apprehension and released pending a Superior Court Appearance.

On Jan. 5 at 4:43 p.m.: Patrol Units returned to a local Financial Institution after staff reported an individual was attempting to gain access to an account with a fraudulent identification. Ptl. Christian Pasternak conducted the initial investigation at the scene, at which time he arrested Alejandro Gonzalez, 42, of New York, NY. Gonzalez provided Ptl. Pasternak with a fraudulent New Jersey driver’s license, and a false name. Gonzalez was processed for Possession of False Government Documents; and Hindering Apprehension and released pending a Superior Court Appearance.
On Jan. 6 at 4:10 p.m.: A 2001 Ford was stopped at the intersection of Raritan Road and Centennial Avenue for making an improper turn. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Robert Jordan located heroin in possession of the driver, Brandon Whitmeyer, 22, of Rahway. Whitmeyer was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Heroin); and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending a Superior Court Appearance. Whitmeyer was also issued motor vehicle summonses for improper turn, failure to wear seatbelt, and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. A passenger was issued a motor vehicle summons for failing to wear a seatbelt.
On Jan. 8 at 11:44 a.m.: Patrol Units responded to the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Raritan Road for a reported motor vehicle accident. During the course of the investigation, Ptl. Daniel Norton determined that the driver of a 2013 Kia, Emily Alpert, 27, of Cranford had active arrest warrants out of Wayne Municipal Court. Alpert was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Contempt of Court, and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Once back at headquarters. Ptl. Norton located marijuana in Alpert’s possession. Alpert was released pending a Municipal Court appearance. Furthermore, Alpert posted Bail on the Wayne warrants. Additionally, Alpert was given motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, driving while suspended, and failure to exhibit documents.
