Eleven Cranford Porches Will Host 4 Bands Each For Porchfest In October

CRANFORD, NJ — The 5th Annual Cranford Porchfest kicks off Saturday, Oct. 9 with bands performing on porches all over town. The event will also be streamed live on Facebook.

Eleven homes will host four bands each, organizers say, starting at 1:30 p.m. and running until 5:15 p.m. There will be a grand finale show at 5:45 p.m. at the Downtown Clock.

Bands will play music from a variety of genres and most are New Jersey locals to boot.

Some folks walk or ride bikes from one porch to another checking out their favorite bands, while others park themselves with friends on a single lawn for hours of live music, say the organizers, Cranford Community Connection.

Due to the continued pandemic, the group is working with the Cranford Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, and the Health Department to comply with national, state, and local COVID health guidance.

"We encourage people to be respectful of each others’ space and to be mindful of safe social distancing," said organizers. "Masks are not required outside but if you feel safer wearing one, you may."

Virtual Component

"We will also be continuing a virtual component this year for those who are unable or uncomfortable to attend in person," say organizers. "We will provide a live Facebook stream in conjunction with Virtual Cranford."
