Jamming at the City Grind

Musicians Crista Orefice and Maudy Apon Play for Customers.

The City Grind Coffee House was alive with the sound of music yesterday, as singer-songwriter Crista Orefice and keyboardist Maudy Apon performed tunes influenced by both modern and traditional styles.

Starting around 7:30 p.m., in addition to singing, Orefice also played guitar, an autoharp, a drum and a kazoo, blending pop and classical melodies. That eclectic musical style has much to do with her background, Orefice said. A classically trained musician who started voice training at age 14, Orefice was exposed to numerous influences including folk, celtic music and Broadway showtunes. Photo galley at right.
