Late-Night DWI Arrests Reported On Cranford Roads

Seven drivers were charged with suspected impaired driving across Cranford in May, according to police.

CRANFORD, NJ — Seven drivers were charged with driving while intoxicated in Cranford between early May and the end of the month, according to police, following a series of late-night and early-morning traffic stops and crash investigations.

The incidents took place on major roadways including North Avenue, South Avenue, and Walnut Avenue, and in several cases followed crash investigations.

Most of the drivers were stopped overnight, charged, and released pending court appearances after receiving motor vehicle summonses, according to police.

One of the more serious cases occurred on May 18, when a driver was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on South Avenue. That case also included additional charges of disorderly conduct and possession of a firearm. The person was taken to the Union County Jail pending a court appearance.
