Lecture: Alfred Hitchcock, Master of Suspense

Chris Messineo, Director of the New Jersey Film School, will present a program on master director Alfred Hitchcock. The presentation will feature film clips, anecdotes, analysis, film history and a question and answer period. Alfred Hitchcock directed more than 60 films spanning more than 50 years. With a distinctive style, both in front of the camera and behind it, his movies have influenced generations of filmmakers. By watching classic scenes from some of his most renowned films, you will discover what made Hitchcock "the master of suspense." Admission to the program is free and all are welcome. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library. Chris Messineo is an award-winning writer and director. He is the founder of Off Stage Films, an independent production company that shoots short films and corporate videos. The films have won awards for screenwriting, acting, sound, cinematography, editing, score, and directing. He has worked as a director, screenwriter, crew member, script reader, screenplay consultant, and even as a film festival judge. Mr. Messineo has taught hundreds of students in night school, as well as at schools in the tri-state area. In 1998 he formed the New Jersey Screenwriter's Group and, since then, the Group has held more than 150 original screenplay readings. In 2002, he created MoviePoet.com, a free online contest and forum to celebrate the art of short scripts and help bring screenwriters and filmmakers together.
