Man Dead After Being Hit By Car On Turnpike In Union County: Police

Two others were hurt in the crash.

ELIZABETH, NJ — A man was hit by a car and died on Saturday night along the New Jersey Turnpike in Elizabeth, State Police said.

At around 9 p.m., troopers responded to the area of mile marker 100.5 along the southbound lanes of the Turnpike for a report of a crash.

Based on early findings, a man was standing behind a Tesla that was parked on the right shoulder when a Toyota that was traveling in the outer road hit him and the car from behind.

James Guevarra, 54 of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was killed in the crash, authorities said.

Frances Guevarra, 52 of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was a passenger in the Tesla at the time and left with moderate injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, Roseanna Mohabeer, 31 of Elizabeth, was critically injured.

The events surrounding the crash are still under review.
