Man On Stolen Bike Had Crack: Cranford Cops

David Cruz was stopped while riding along South Avenue.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 43-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested and charged with drug possession after an incident with police on Nov. 14, according to the Cranford Police Department.

Authorities said Patrolman Corey LoForte stopped a suspicious male on a bicycle while riding along South Avenue West.

Following an investigation on scene, LoForte arrested the bicyclist, David Cruz, for being in
possession of a bicycle that was reported stolen from Cranford. He also had suspected crack-cocaine in his possession, police said.

Cruz was processed and charged with provided with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and provided with a Superior Court appearance date.

Cruz also had an active arrest warrant for robbery out of North Arlington and a warrant out of Scotch Plains for burglary, police said.
