Play Readings by The Theater Project

The Theater Project will present staged readings of two short plays, “A Crazy Little Café Called Love,” a five story romantic comedy by Luigi Jannuzzi and “Encore,” a drama by Tylie Shider. In “A Crazy Little Café Called Love,” Bob’s writing a horror movie, the waitress likes the Monk, the Bride’s waiting for her groom, an old man demands a séance, Larry’s a Transcendentalist, Bruce is quite a player, and the Bride’s Dad is livid, all in one night. Luigi Jannuzzi has had 27 plays published by Samuel French, including “Exhibit This!,” “The Museum Comedies” (13 one act plays), “All the King’s Women” (8 one act plays), “Night of the Foolish Moon,” “For the Love of Juliet,” “A Bench at the Edge,” “The Barbarians Are Coming,” “The Appointment,” and “With or Without You.” He is a University of Notre Dame graduate and a member of the Dramatists and Authors guilds. In “Encore,” an American pop-singer of color struggles between salvaging the remnants of her washed-up career and raising her voice for a cause she believes in. Tylie Shider is a New Jersey playwright. He studied theater at Delaware State University and was recently accepted into the MFA Dramatic Writing program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Mr. Shider also has a Web series, The Miseducation of a First Generation College Student, on YouTube. The Theater Project is an acclaimed, New Jersey-based professional theater group and the winner of two New Jersey Tony Awards. Following the play readings, the audience will have the opportunity to discuss the works with the authors. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library. Admission is free and all are welcome.
