Police Blotter: Traffic Stops Lead To Several Arrests For Warrants, Drug Possession
The following information was obtained from the Cranford Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

July 29
- At 6:57 p.m., following a motor vehicle stop near the Garden State Parkway ramp, Patrolman Spencer Durkin arrested a suspect identified as William Woods, 31, of Avanel for an outstanding traffic warrant from Edison. Woods was released after posting $250 bail.
- At 9:11 p.m., following a motor vehicle in the area of Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street, Patrolman Brian Lopez arrested a suspect identified as John Niotis, 25, of Springfield for an outstanding criminal warrant from Elizabeth. Niotis was released after posting $250 bail.
July 30
- At 1:46 a.m., Patrolman Christopher DiFabio arrested a suspect identified as Russell Rudyk, 41, of Cartaret for possession of a hypodermic syringe. According to police reports, the patrolman stopped a 1996 Chrysler on centennial Avenue for erratic driving and having an obstructed license plate. Following a brief investigation at the scene, the officer located a used hypodermic syringe in the vehicle. the driver, Rudyk, was arrested, processed and released with a court date. he was also cited for careless driving, unclear license plates and driving with a suspended license.
- At 10:30 a.m., Patrolman Matthew Nazzaro arrested Christopher Hinkley, 45, of Elizabeth on an outstanding non-support warrant from Middlesex County Sheriff's Department. The arrest was made following a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Avenue East and High Street. Hinkley was turned over to the custody of the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department in lieu of $93,007 bail.
- At 7:30 p.m., Patrolman Spencer Durkin arrested Anthony Boone, 23, of Rahway for possession of less than 50 grams of suspected marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. According to reports, the officer stopped a 2012 Nissan Sentra on Centennial Avenue for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Matthew Nazzaro located a bag of suspected marijuana in the center console of the vehicle. the driver, Boone, was arrested, processed and released with a municipal court date. He was also cited for failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to produce registration information.

- At 12:14 a.m., Shakir Scott, 26, of Newark, was arrested by Patrolman Derek Farbanec for contempt of court as a result of outstanding traffic warrants from Rahway and East Orange. Scott was arrested following a motor vehicle stop on the northbound Garden State Parkway for motor vehicle violations. Scott was processed and released to the custody of the Rahway Police Department.
- At 6:37 p.m., Patrolman John Rattigan arrested four suspects: Kenneth Meier, 19 of Cranford; Christian Atwood, 19, of Westfield; Antonio Anderson, 22, of Cranford and Jeffrey Sukovich, 18, of Cranford for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of marijuana. According to reports, the officer stopped a 1995 Oldsmobile, driven by Meier, in the area of Retford Avenue and Williams Street for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, police located two bags of suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. All four occupants were arrested. They were processed and released with a municipal court date. Meier, Anderson and Sukovich were also cited for failure to wear their seatbelts.
Aug. 2
- At 2:08 a.m., Daniel Marrero, 26, of Garwood, was arrested by Patrolman John Rattigan for contempt of court as a result of an outstanding traffic warrant from Westfield. According to reports, the arrest was made following a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Avenue and Washington place for motor vehicle violations. Marrero was processed and released to the custody of the Westfield Police Department.
- At 12:44 p.m., Ricardo Gonzales, 32, of Cranford was arrested for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Following a suspicious person investigation on Centennial Ave., Patrolman Timothy O’Brien located Gonzales standing in a building doorway at 220 Centennial Avenue. Following an investigation at the scene, the officer discovered a small amount of marijuana, hollowed cigar shavings and a scale in Gonzales’ possession. He was arrested, processed and released with a municipal court.
- At 9:44 p.m., police arrested Michel Brown, 28, of Rahway on outstanding traffic warrants from Cranford and the Union County Sheriff's Department. Following a suspicious vehicle investigation in the area of North Lehigh Avenue and Mansion terrace, Patrolman John Rattigan arrested Brown, who was turned over to the custody of the Union County Sheriff's Department.

- At 2:39, police arrested Terry Paschall II, 25, of South Plainfield for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. According to reports, Patrolman Thomas Bell stopped a 1995 Honda Civic on North Avenue East near the Garden State Parkway northbound ramp for an improperly displayed license plate and an inoperable brake light. Following an investigation at the scene, the officerl located a bag of suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Paschall, was arrested, processed and released with a municipal court date.
