Hiker Rescued From Remote Trail In Union County
Crews were called to the Watchung Reservation on Saturday after a hiker suffered a medical emergency on a remote trail.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Multiple emergency agencies responded to the Watchung Reservation over the weekend after a hiker suffered a medical emergency on a remote section of a trail in Union County.
According to the Berkeley Heights Fire Department, crews were dispatched Saturday morning after a 911 caller reported a hiker in distress along the History Trail.
Because the emergency happened in a difficult-to-access area, specialized rescue vehicles were brought in to help crews reach the patient.
Members of the Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad responded alongside paramedics from Atlantic Mobile Health and the Union County Police Department.
Officials said Rescue-1 and Ranger-1 were also used to help crews navigate the wooded trail area.
