Sleeping Driver Had Heroin: Cranford Police

Michael Egidio was found asleep at the wheel on Eastman Street, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A 32-year-old Middletown man was arrested and charged with possession after being found asleep at the wheel of his car on March 7, according to the Cranford Police Department.

According to authorities, Patrolman Daniel Donnerstag was dispatched to Eastman Street on the report of an individual sleeping in a motor vehicle.

Following an investigation on scene, Donnerstag arrested the driver, Michael Egidio, for suspected heroin found inside the vehicle, police said. He was processed and provided with a Superior Court appearance date.

In addition, Egidio was issued motor vehicle summonses for suspended driver, obstructed view and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
