The Perfect Hat This Winter

As I dropped the kids off school today, I realized that for the past two weeks I have been wearing all my little winter hats that I have collected over the years.  I forgot how much fun it is to pop one of those wool beauties on my noggin and leave my house feeling a bit more polished.  I am sure we are all a tad bit weary of the cold, but since it is here and most likely sticking around for another month or so, it is best to focus on the now and not the future.  With that said, it is time to dig into your closet and find that hat you have not worn for oh so long.  Or perhaps you need to go out and find a perfect hat to carry you through this blast of cold called winter.  

If that new hat is calling you and you are not sure what type of hat shape is best for your face frame, you may want to consider using these simple guidelines.  If you have a heart shape face, a “no or small brim” hat such a knitted cloche (snug fitting hat), or a felt horizontal pleated rolled brim cloche hat is a perfect style.  A hat with a high crown and medium brim (edge or border) fedora or newsboy will add definition to your face if it is round. If your features are long, you may want to try a wide brim hat or beret to add fullness.  For all you ladies with a square shape, an adorable shimmery beanie, or bowler hat will enhance your pretty features.  Lastly, if you were born with an oval face, you are limitless in your hat selection from a classic walking fedora, wool or felt beret, cloche, wool stitched pom- pom, or a wool fisherman’s cap. 

You will be happy to know that any of the above suggested styles will compliment you in leggings, jeans, a tunic style dress and poncho.   Once you find your ideal winter hat, place it on your head tilting it slightly, then put on your favorite lip product for the season.  Try a soft neutral or blush shade for day and for evening drench your lips in a bold rich color and apply a clear shimmer gloss over your lips. Now you are prepared to go out into the cold with a big smile knowing you look and feel marvelous!
