Union County College Wins National Division III Track Championship
Katie Lennon came in first place in the Women's 10,000 meter run.

In its first season with a Track and Field program, Union County College has a track athlete who won a national championship.
Lady Owl track star Katie Lennon came in first place in the Women’s 10,000-meter run with a time of 42:09.18. She competed yesterday (May 9) in the NJCAA Div. III Nationals held at Howard Community College (Columbia, MD).

Her Union County College teammate, Petra Semelova, placed second with a time of 43:26.60.
The competition concludes today and features Ms. Lennon and Ms. Semelova running in both the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter finals.

Union County College’s men’s team will also compete in the finals of the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays.
Ms. Lennon’s victory is the first track national championship in Union County College’s 79-year history. The National Junior College Athletic Association (Division III) includes 98 community colleges across 14 states and 24 regions.
