
The Cranford Cougar volleyball team may have suffered a setback in their loss last week to New Providence, but they bounced back with a strong effort against visiting Rahway to run their mark to 8-2 on the season.
The Lady Cougars came in refreshed and regrouped as they swept the Lady Indians in two games, 25-14 and 25-17.
Sarah Barry totaled 10 assists and 2 service points, along with other seniors Katie Knorr (5 kills, 1 block, 1 service point), Alexis Inselberg (5 kills, 3 service points) and Alex Bizub (4 kills, 5 service aces and 10 service points).

Juniors Gabby Pericone added 2 kills and 1 ace, while Izzy Acton served up 5 aces and 5 service points.
"The girls had fun and enjoyed the match, realizing their comfort zone," said head coach Lucy Diaz. "The seniors did a great job motivating and keeping everyone level-headed, and the underclassmen continue to handle the pressure on and off the court very well."

Cranford will see further conference action this week when they face Plainfield and Linden. Matchups against Bridgwater-Raritan & Bogota -- which will be played within the next two weeks -- have that potential to be classics.
And the Lady Cougars are already looking forward to the rematch with NewProvidence which will take place on their home court on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m.
