What's in a Name?

Tuesday, June 28, 2016, 7:30 p.m., Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue, Cranford, NJ 07016

The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are pleased to sponsor a lecture/PowerPoint presentation by the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts entitled “What’s in a Name?” People’s last names traditionally came from where they lived (geographic), from their fathers (patronymic), or from the work they did (occupational). The presentation will focus on occupational surnames, accompanied by pictures of objects from the Museum’s collection that match the names. Admission to the program is free and all are welcome.
