2-Alarm Condo Fire in Hidden Lakes Complex Wednesday Night

It's the same Hidden Lakes complex where a devastating fire broke out in November, forcing a young mother to throw her baby to safety.

North Brunswick, NJ - Volunteer firefighters responded to a 2nd-alarm house fire just after 9 p.m. Wednesday on Nathan Drive in the Hidden Lakes condo complex in North Brunswick.

When firefighters got to the home, smoke was coming out of the front door. The fire spread to a second-alarm, requiring extra manpower from neighboring towns to put it out, but firefighters were able to contain it without any injuries.

This is part of the same Hidden Lakes condo complex where a devastating fire occurred in November of last year. That fire, which broke out at approximately 8:13 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 114 Willowbrook Drive, quickly spread to neighboring units and trapped a young mother on her balcony with her baby. With no choice, she threw the baby off the second-story balcony into the arms of a North Brunswick police officer, Officer Nate Nicholson. She then jumped off the balcony. Both mother and baby were uninjured, but the family's dog and cat were thought to have perished in the fire. Read more about that fire here.
