71 Bags of Heroin Found on Man in DUI Traffic Stop, Police Said

The arrest was on Ryders Lane in East Brunswick.

East Brunswick, NJ - A man pulled over for a suspected DUI last week in East Brunswick was found with 71 bags of heroin in his jacket pocket, township police said.

The incident happened last Friday, Feb. 26, police said, when they pulled over a car driving recklessly on Ryders Lane near Dunhams Corner Road at 4:15 in the afternoon. When speaking with the driver, a 41-year-old Spotswood man, the officer said he smelled alcohol coming from the car.

The man was asked to exit the vehicle, and during a pat-down he was found with 71 bags of heroin in his jacket pocket, Officer Anthony DeSantis said.

Walter Waddy was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute, as well as other charges. He was held on a $30,000 bail.
