The event, titled "In the Footsteps of Washington's Army," will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include a brief walk followed by a party at the DeVoe Library, 166 Main St., according to Resolution 26-137, approved by the council.

The walk, approximately two-tenths of a mile, will begin near the old Matteawan Road near Emerson Street, at the site of the old bridge, near the Crandall Costman American Legion Post, and end at DeVoe Library.

George Francis, president of the East Brunswick Museum, 11 Princeton Court, described the event as a community history festival. Activities will include crafts and coloring sheets for children, patriotic character cutouts for photo opportunities, and live music by Tommy Bus and his band.

"To coincide with this year's 250th of America's founding, we're having this celebration to complement your own celebrations on July 4," Francis told the council.

The approval is contingent on satisfaction of all applicable township ordinances and receipt of all required certificates of insurance.

For more information, residents may contact the East Brunswick Museum at 11 Princeton Court.
