EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The East Brunswick Public Library will close its doors for three weeks beginning Monday, April 27. The library will close as a new HVAC system is installed, but most services will continue during the closure, the library said.

"Even though the library is closed, you can still get stuff from the East Brunswick Public Library through a bunch of different ways," library director Chris Barnes said.

The building is scheduled to reopen Monday, May 18. Staff at the Information Services, Youth Services, and Circulation desks will remain available by phone and email throughout the closure, and library operating hours will remain the same.

Residents can still borrow books by visiting any of the 43 member libraries in the STELLA consortium, using their East Brunswick library card. Book requests can also be placed through the STELLA catalog for pickup at a member library. A full list of member libraries is available at stellanj.org.

All fines will be waived during the closure and due dates for items coming due during that period will be extended automatically. Library cards expiring during the closure will be extended through June 15. Book drops will be closed, and the library is asking patrons not to return materials to the building during the three-week period. Materials may be returned to any STELLA consortium library.

Passport and notary services will move to the East Brunswick Municipal Building's first-floor conference room, available by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 732-390-6761.

Programs and events will continue virtually and at off-site locations. Children's story time will be held every Monday at 11 a.m. at the Community Arts Center. The library's 2000s trivia program will move to The Cozy Cup on Route 18 on May 13. "You're not going to miss out on 2000s trivia," Barnes said.

Digital services including eLibraryNJ for e-books and audiobooks, Hoopla, Kanopy, and Mango Languages remain available. More information is available at ebpl.org.

"We're sorry for the inconvenience, but we can't wait to see you in three weeks," Barnes said.
