EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Middlesex County Mosquito Extermination Commission will conduct truck-based mosquito spraying in East Brunswick on Thursday, July 23, from 6 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., weather permitting, according to an alert from the East Brunswick Police Department. A rain date is set for Friday, July 24.
The ultra-low-volume (ULV) spray mission targets nuisance adult mosquitoes and disease vector control. The treatment area spans the area bounded by Old Stage Road, New Brunswick Avenue, Ryders Lane, the New Jersey Turnpike, and Dunhams Corner Road.
The commission will use Zenivex E4, an EPA-registered mosquito control product, applied in compliance with the New Jersey Pesticide Control Code, according to the alert.
Residents are advised to take precautions during the spraying window. Recommendations include staying indoors with windows closed and window air conditioners set to non-vent during spraying, bringing pets, pet food and water dishes, children's toys, and clothing inside, and avoiding contact with surfaces that remain wet from the spray.
Sprayed areas should be avoided until they have dried, typically about an hour, officials said.
Residents who must be outdoors during spraying should avoid eye and skin contact with the spray and immediately flush with water if contact occurs, according to the alert. Those with chemical sensitivities or preexisting health conditions that may be aggravated by spraying are advised to consult a physician or local health department.
