Heat-related illnesses can become serious very quickly. Signs of heat exhaustion include heavy sweating, dizziness, muscle cramps, headache, weakness, nausea, and fatigue. If these symptoms are not treated promptly, they can progress to heat stroke, which is a medical emergency.
Move to a cool place, drink water, and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen or do not improve. Call 911 immediately if someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or develops a very high body temperature.
