Medications and Heat Safety

Some medications may increase heat-related risks

Did you know that some medications may make it harder for your body to regulate heat? Certain medications, including some used to treat mental health conditions, blood pressure, or other chronic illnesses, can increase the risk of dehydration and heat-related illness.

Never stop taking your medication without speaking to your healthcare provider. During hot weather, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and store medications according to the instructions on the label. If you have questions about your medications and heat safety, speak with your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
